As early learning professionals,
many of us have encountered children who do not want to put on their coats in
cold weather or who keep taking off their mittens or hats… How do you respond
in these scenarios? What do children learn about self-regulation from making decisions
about how to dress?
We encourage children to put their winter clothing on but if they choose not to we will have a conversation about why it's important and bring their clothes with us when we head outdoors. Usually after a short amount of time children decide to put their coats on
ReplyDeleteThat's a great plan! I have also found that children will choose to put on their winter gear after a short time. Sometimes they need a break from their coats too because they can get really hot from running around, even on cold days!
